Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

Sachetas is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, drawing guidance from the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties of Authors

  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate data and objective discussions of their work's significance. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unacceptable.
  • Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cite any sources used. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.
  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Manuscripts should not describe the same research in multiple journals or publications. Concurrent submission is unethical unless agreed upon by the journals involved.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of others' work is essential, with citations for all influences and private communications requiring explicit permission.
  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who made significant contributions to the study, with all contributors listed as co-authors.
  • Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: Any hazards or compliance with ethical guidelines for studies involving human or animal subjects must be clearly identified and approved.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors should disclose any conflicts of interest and all sources of financial support for the project.
  • Fundamental Errors in Published Works: Authors must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher of any significant errors in their published work.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles are published, guided by the journal's editorial policies and legal requirements. Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on intellectual content, without regard to the authors’ personal characteristics. Editors must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts except to relevant parties and must maintain confidentiality.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Peer review assists the editor in decision-making and helps authors improve their work. Reviewers who feel unqualified to evaluate a manuscript should notify the editor promptly.
  • Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential and reviewed objectively, with no personal criticism of the author.
  • Reviewers should highlight relevant, uncited published work and report any substantial similarity to other published papers.
  • Reviewers must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript for personal research without the author’s consent and must avoid conflicts of interest.
